The Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health organization is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our team in the Family Intensive Outreach Services (FIOS) portfolio. As a Clinical Psychologist, you will be responsible for providing evidence-based mental health treatment to children, youth, and their families struggling with Disruptive Behaviour Disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individual and family therapy to clients and their families
- Conduct psychological assessments and develop treatment plans
- Supervise and consult with other staff members and community service providers
- Develop and evaluate programs to improve mental health outcomes
- Travel regularly within the Halifax Regional Municipality to provide services in clients' homes or other convenient locations
- Ph.D. or Psy.D. degree in Clinical Psychology from an accredited university program
- Completion of an APA or CPA accredited predoctoral internship in psychology
- Current registration or eligibility to register with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology
- Minimum five years of formal training and clinical experience in child and adolescent mental health, with at least two years of experience as a PhD/DPsych prepared Psychologist
- Demonstrated experience and skills in assessment and treatment of youth and families with mental health and/or addiction issues
- Demonstrated proficiency in providing family and individual therapy
- Recent experience in providing clinical supervision to staff/team and demonstrated ability to consult with other professionals
- Theoretical knowledge and practice competency in a family systems approach, with knowledge and experience in the Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy model an asset
- Demonstrated excellence in communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated excellent time management, workload prioritization, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interprofessional care team
- Working knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care, with NCI Certification required
- Successful completion of CPR Level C Health Care Provider course in the last 12 months required
- Understanding of and commitment to evidence-informed practice/best practice
- Ability to participate in clinical training activities of the Psychology Discipline
- Competencies in other languages an asset
- Holds a valid minimal Class 5 Nova Scotia driver's license and reliable transportation required
