About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our Family Intensive Outreach Services (FIOS) team at IWK Health. As a Clinical Psychologist, you will be responsible for providing evidence-based mental health treatment to children, youth, and their families struggling with Disruptive Behaviour Disorders.

Reporting to the Clinical Manager of Adolescent Intensive Services, you will work under the direction of the team lead to plan and provide treatment, supervise staff, conduct psychological assessments, and consult with other staff members and community service providers. You will also be responsible for program development and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide evidence-based mental health treatment to children, youth, and their families
  • Supervise staff and conduct psychological assessments
  • Consult with other staff members and community service providers
  • Develop and evaluate programs
  • Travel regularly within Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) to provide clinical services to families in their homes or other convenient locations
Requirements
  • Ph.D/PsyD Degree in Clinical Psychology from an accredited university program
  • Completion of an APA or CPA Accredited Predoctoral Internship in Psychology
  • Currently registered, or eligible to be registered, with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology
  • Minimum five (5) years of formal training and clinical experience in child/adolescent mental health
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in assessment and treatment of youth and families with mental health and/or addictions issues
  • Demonstrated proficiency in providing both family and individual therapy
  • Recent experience in providing clinical supervision to staff/team preferred
  • Theoretical knowledge and practice competency in a family systems approach preferred
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated excellent time management, workload prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interprofessional care team
