This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join Scotiabank's Global Risk Management team as a Senior Manager, Financial Institutions Credit Risk. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the credit risk assessment and management of financial institutions across Canada and globally.
Key Responsibilities- Liaise and maintain strong working relationships with business partners in banking units to ensure effective credit risk management.
- Conduct in-depth risk assessments of financial institutions, identifying material risk issues and providing recommendations to senior executives.
- Ensure all proposed credit exposures are in compliance with established guidelines and limits, and provide rationale for exceptions.
- Provide expert advice and support to senior management and business partners on credit risk management strategies and policies.
- Develop and maintain a high degree of industry knowledge and expertise, staying up-to-date with market trends and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement credit risk management policies and procedures.
- Provide training and development opportunities to staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in credit risk management.
- Relevant post-secondary education in a field such as finance, business, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in credit risk management, with a focus on financial institutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make sound recommendations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior executives, business partners, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong knowledge of credit analysis frameworks, financial statement analysis, and risk management principles.
- Ability to travel internationally, as required.
