Senior Manager, Financial Institutions Credit Risk Expert

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join Scotiabank's Global Risk Management team as a Senior Manager, Financial Institutions Credit Risk. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the credit risk assessment and management of financial institutions across Canada and globally.
Key Responsibilities- Liaise with marketing and execution personnel in banking units to maintain strong working relationships and ensure effective credit risk management.
- Conduct in-depth risk assessments of financial institutions, identifying material risk issues and providing recommendations to senior executives.
- Ensure all proposed credit exposures comply with established guidelines and limits, and provide rationale for exceptions.
- Provide expert advice and support to senior management, presenting and participating in discussions at senior management Credit Committees.
- Adjudicate on credit applications within approved lending authority, ensuring accurate and timely decision-making.
- Develop and maintain industry knowledge and expertise, conducting analysis and policy reviews for submission to senior management.
- Review documentation governing credit facilities and provide accurate data to satisfy regulatory and reporting requirements.
- Work on special projects and reviews as assigned by senior management, and assist with the training and development of staff.
- While an MBA, CMA, CFA, or CA designation is preferred, equivalent industry/credit analysis experience will be considered.
- Risk assessment and portfolio management experience, with a strong understanding of credit analysis frameworks and their application to complex financial institutions.
- Financial statement analysis and ability to conduct in-depth credit assessments of financial institutions, including forward-looking projections and stress testing.
- Knowledge of the financial sector, including the main business activities of financial institutions and the ability to keep abreast of changing accounting, legal, and regulatory landscapes.
- Ability to make decisions and recommendations to senior management, and effectively support such recommendations.
- Customer-focused, with strong analytical, communication, self-management, and technical skills.
- Curiosity, ability to learn, and apply newly acquired knowledge to daily tasks.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
