The Payroll Specialist is a key member of our team at Bilingual Squad, responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll, administering employee benefits, and maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations.

This role involves maintaining payroll records, handling employee inquiries, and collaborating with HR and Finance teams to optimize payroll and benefits processes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Process payroll for all employees, handle payroll-related inquiries, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  2. Review and verify payroll data to ensure accuracy before processing and ensure accurate and timely payment of wages, bonuses, and other compensation.
  3. Ensure accurate and timely processing of all transactions, including new hires, transfers, promotions, terminations, leave of absence, statutory holidays, deductions, Provincial and Federal taxes, garnishments, etc.
  4. Assist year-end payroll closing procedures, including reconciliations, audit, and balancing, and filing all statutory required reports.
  5. Ensure accurate, confidential, and detailed administration and reporting on all required documentation, following regulations, collective agreements, and company policies.
  6. Assist with special projects such as system upgrades, implementations, and process improvements.
  7. Manage employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks.
  8. Coordinate with benefit providers to resolve issues and ensure accurate benefits administration.
  9. Conduct benefits orientation for new employees and provide ongoing benefits education.
Requirements
  • Five (5) years of experience in payroll and benefits administration.
  • Proficiency in using ADP Workforce, Benefits software, and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll and benefits regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Two (2) years of general human resources experience is an asset.
