The URD Foreman is responsible for supervising a crew and equipment on a construction site, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the work of a crew, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
- Conduct daily safety inspections and maintain accurate records.
- Verify material deliveries and notify supervisors of any discrepancies.
- Ensure a steady workflow by maintaining a sufficient supply of materials.
- Develop and maintain good employee relations, providing training and development opportunities as needed.
- Optimize resource allocation through effective planning and coordination.
- Ensure all employees are aware of their duties and responsibilities, and hold them accountable for their performance.
- Review and complete required documentation, including daily timesheets and incident reports.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and vehicles, reporting any issues or defects.
- Ensure all employees are wearing required personal protective equipment.
- Be aware of one's own condition and fitness for duty, and ensure readiness for work.
Leadership and Team Engagement:
- Actively seek increased responsibility and take initiative.
- Demonstrate adaptability and deal with issues in a respectful manner.
- Direct, guide, and support team members to create a positive work atmosphere.
- Provide positive recognition to employees.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum five years' experience in shallow utility construction industry.
- URD experience required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.
- Valid Standard First Aid Certificate.
- Valid Ground Disturbance Certificate.
- Ability to navigate and complete app-based safety and production paperwork.
- Strong ability to read construction prints.
