Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of a crew, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections and maintain accurate records.
  • Verify material deliveries and notify supervisors of any discrepancies.
  • Ensure a steady workflow by maintaining a sufficient supply of materials.
  • Develop and maintain good employee relations, providing training and development opportunities as needed.
  • Optimize resource allocation through effective planning and coordination.
  • Ensure all employees are aware of their duties and responsibilities, and hold them accountable for their performance.
  • Review and complete required documentation, including daily timesheets and incident reports.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and vehicles, reporting any issues or defects.
  • Ensure all employees are wearing required personal protective equipment.
  • Be aware of one's own condition and fitness for duty, and ensure readiness for work.

Leadership and Team Engagement:

  • Actively seek increased responsibility and take initiative.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and deal with issues in a respectful manner.
  • Direct, guide, and support team members to create a positive work atmosphere.
  • Provide positive recognition to employees.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum five years' experience in shallow utility construction industry.
  • URD experience required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.
  • Valid Standard First Aid Certificate.
  • Valid Ground Disturbance Certificate.
  • Ability to navigate and complete app-based safety and production paperwork.
  • Strong ability to read construction prints.
