Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team at Autograph Collection/Courtyard by Marriott Hotel. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our hotel's mechanical and electrical systems, as well as maintaining a safe and clean environment for our guests and associates.

Responsibilities:

  • Train and instruct other members of the staff through sharing of knowledge and skills, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Operate as an independent mechanic, analyzing problems, identifying courses of action, and implementing solutions with available resources and to a high degree of quality, ensuring the efficient operation of our hotel's systems.
  • Keep accurate completion and task records in the project files, maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all types of hardware, plumbing, and electrical equipment, including lamps, air conditioners, and cosmetic items, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Clean, lubricate, protect, and otherwise maintain all tools and equipment in the hotel, adhering to our high standards of cleanliness and safety.
  • Ensure that all tools used are returned to the shop and secured in proper storage area, maintaining a safe and organized workspace.
  • Protect and otherwise maintain your assigned tool pouch and its tools at the discretion of the Engineering Management, taking pride in your work and your equipment.
  • Monitor systems as necessary, to be fully informed of the system operation and to handle emergencies involving the systems, providing a high level of service to our guests and associates.
  • Have a working knowledge of fire sprinkler and emergency power systems, ensuring our hotel's safety and compliance with regulations.
  • Observe and analyze energy and utilities usage in the hotel and on the grounds, identifying opportunities for energy conservation and reporting them to the Engineering Management.
  • Look for ways to conserve energy and report any ideas to the Engineering Management, contributing to our hotel's sustainability efforts.
  • Be available for any emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect our guests and associates, and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency, providing a high level of service and support.
  • Act as quickly and responsibly as possible to return the building to its normal operating status, minimizing disruptions and ensuring our guests' comfort and safety.
  • Inform Engineering Management of any such emergencies, maintaining open communication and collaboration.
  • Be aware of all existing departmental Job Safety Analysis and to strive to work in an accident-free manner and to create a safe work environment for others, adhering to our hotel's safety policies and procedures.
  • Continuously look for conditions which may endanger associates or guests of the hotel and to take immediate action to correct any hazardous conditions found, promoting a culture of safety and well-being.
  • Read, log, track, and interpret readings from meters, gauges, and other measuring units, maintaining accurate records and providing valuable insights to the Engineering Management.
  • Maintain a thorough log of each day's activities and problems that occur and to ensure this information is passed on to other shifts, promoting a culture of transparency and communication.
  • Clean all engineering areas as directed by Engineering Management, maintaining a high level of cleanliness and organization.
  • Serve as otherwise directed or needed to help maintain the effective and efficient operation of the hotel at the discretion of Engineering Management or the hotel General Manager, providing a high level of service and support.
  • Complete all work assigned in a safe and professional manner, adhering to our hotel's safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain communications with supervisors to ensure that all needed materials, tools, and supplies are available or on order, promoting a culture of collaboration and teamwork.
  • Follow up on any items that may be on back order, ensuring that our hotel's operations are not disrupted.
  • Keep supervisor updated on assignments, maintaining open communication and collaboration.
  • Provide training and technical advice to other engineers as needed or requested, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all federal, provincial, and municipal codes and regulations, ensuring our hotel's compliance with regulations.
  • Maintains the hotel facility and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to our hotel's safety policies and procedures.
  • Provides for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules, promoting a culture of safety and well-being.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Engineering Supervisor and/or Chief Engineer/Manager, providing a high level of service and support.
