This is a three-year term role, contingent upon grant funding. The selected candidate will be part of our team focused on providing responsive, low-barrier services to individuals who are low-income, underhoused or homeless in the Downtown Eastside community.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifying areas for expanded legal service in critical need and collaborating with the Advocacy program to develop strategies for growth
  • Conducting research, analyzing data, and making recommendations for law reform and policy changes
  • Developing and implementing educational programs and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills of staff and community members
  • Maintaining relationships with partner organizations and stakeholders to promote collaboration and achieve common goals

Qualifications:

  • A law degree and license to practice as a lawyer in British Columbia
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably with judicial review applications in British Columbia
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
