Role Overview:
As a Rendering Software Engineer , you will play a crucial role in the game development lifecycle. Your responsibilities will encompass the architectural design and execution of rendering technologies across various platforms. Collaborating closely with designers, artists, and fellow engineers, you will contribute to the development of intricate graphics features, delivering realistic visuals, expansive worlds, and stunning graphical effects. You will report directly to the Technical Director and engage in both internal and external graphics discussions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop essential rendering features, engine components, and tools.
- Investigate and apply advanced rendering techniques.
- Create adaptable and reusable rendering technologies.
- Design, maintain, implement, test, and debug code, pipelines, and other rendering-related components.
- Analyze and enhance the performance of rendering modules within the game engine.
- Stay informed about the latest advancements in hardware and software that impact rendering.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to accomplish specific rendering tasks.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in C++ development.
- Proven experience in developing graphics techniques and a solid understanding of graphics hardware.
- A formal background in rendering, with experience in shaders, animation, skinning, lighting, special effects, and tool development.
- At least 1 year of experience with Direct 3D, Open GL, or similar technologies.
- Knowledge of memory management, multi-processor utilization, and runtime optimization.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience in shipping at least one title on a contemporary console.
- Proficiency in several areas such as shader programming (HLSL or similar), terrain or environment rendering, advanced lighting techniques, particle systems, special effects, art pipelines, tool development, and game engine architecture.
- Familiarity with modern graphics APIs is a significant advantage.
Compensation and Benefits:
The base salary ranges provided below are for the defined geographic market pay zones. If you reside outside these areas, a recruiter will provide guidance on the salary range and benefits applicable to your location.
EA has outlined the expected base salary ranges for this role in good faith, as of the time of this posting. The salary offered will be influenced by various relevant business and candidate factors, including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
BASE SALARY RANGES
- British Columbia (varies by location):
o $96,400 - $133,900 CAN Annually
Base salary is just one aspect of the overall compensation package at EA. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package, including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days of sick leave annually, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary for new parents (12 weeks for maternity leave and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, and a retirement plan for regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also qualify for bonuses and equity.
