Pharmacy Technician

The Pharmacy Technician plays a vital role in the delivery of pharmaceutical care services at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of the pharmacy team, you will be responsible for processing medication orders, preparing and dispensing medications, and maintaining accurate records.
Key Responsibilities- Medication Order Processing: Process clinically reviewed and approved medication orders for distribution to patients, clients, or residents.
- Prescription Verification: Receive prescriptions from practitioners and ensure that prescriptions are complete and authentic by verifying allergy status and demographics.
- Medication Preparation: Prepare and process prescriptions by entering orders, counting, measuring, packaging, or re-packaging medications and compounding sterile pharmaceutical products according to established procedures.
- Dispensing and Inventory Management: Ensure the accuracy and completeness of dispensed prescriptions prepared by self or others by verifying order entries and/or performing the final check of dispensed prescriptions. Maintain accurate records of medication verification and quality assurance checks.
- Pharmacy Information System: Enter and ensure the accuracy and completeness of drug and personal health information in the pharmacy information system.
- Inter-Pharmacy Communication: Transfer prescriptions to and receive prescriptions from other pharmacies.
- Clerical Duties: Perform related clerical duties such as keyboarding, answering telephone, filing, and maintaining medication and prescription records.
- Grade 12 and graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current practicing registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to keyboard.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
