Job Title: Assistant Editor

The Assistant Editor will play a crucial role in supporting the colourist/editor team in the completion of episodic and feature projects from ingest to delivery. This position requires a strong understanding of technical applications and trends, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Colour Support: Assist in colour and display systems to enable colourists to perform efficiently and productively during sessions. This includes colour tracing, vfx inserts, lut application, and other tasks.
  • Support Editors: Help finishing editors perform efficiently and productively during and before sessions. This includes locating and consolidating media, renders, and qc fixes.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate and communicate with colleagues to obtain job instructions and solutions to meet project deadlines. Document workflows and help train incoming new hires.
  • Resource Support: Operate DaVinici Resolve or similar applications, Sony X300, Barco 4K/2K, and video routers.
  • Quality Assurance: Detail-oriented with application and equipment settings. Thoroughly check all work for errors before content is distributed downstream.
  • New Technology Support: Help support new processes and maintain proficiency with evolving technical applications and trends with the company workflow.
  • Quality Control: Maintain outstanding levels of oversight of deliverables manufactured within the finishing process.
  • Customer Service: Drive client-supervised sessions; screenings, visual effects reviews, and colour-correction sessions/editorial reviews as directed by colourist/editor and/or production management.
Requirements:
  • Prior working experience in the media/post-production industry.
  • Prior hands-on operator experience.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • An exceptional eye for detail, with strong problem-solving skills, good communication and interpersonal skills, and a great team player.
  • Working knowledge of Davinci Resolve.
  • Prior experience in finishing.
  • A professional level English language skill, i.e. written and verbal.
  • Solid knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Other system knowledge is a plus: Adobe Premiere, OSD/Transkoder, and Avid.
  • Ability to work overtime with little or no notice.
  • Ability to work on weekends, as necessary.
  • Ability to work variable shifts, as necessary.
