About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Truck Trailer Mechanic to join our team at Compass Transport Ltd. as a key member of our maintenance department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on commercial transport trucks and trailers, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Inspect and test mechanical units to identify faults and malfunctions, and make necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of automotive systems, including engine repair, electrical and electronic systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Estimate parts and labor costs for vehicle maintenance and repairs, and provide accurate quotes to customers.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance services, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements.
  • Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer specifications, ensuring they meet industry standards.
  • Advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements, providing excellent customer service.
  • Complete reports to record problems and work performed, and maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
  • Coach and instruct apprentices in the maintenance and repair of commercial transport trucks and trailers.
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience in the heavy duty mechanic trade, with a focus on commercial transport trucks and trailers.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Steel-toed safety boots and other personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Excellent oral communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Tire, wheel, and rim mechanic certification.
  • Truck-Trailer Repairer Trade Certification.
  • Experience with engine repair, electrical and electronic systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of commercial transport truck and trailer systems, including brakes, suspension, and steering.
