The Role

As the leader within our Software Development team, the Director of Software plays a pivotal role in steering our software initiatives towards aligning with strategic business objectives and delivering cutting-edge solutions. This senior position requires a strong background in software development, particularly in the oil and gas sector, and a deep understanding of GIS data management and ESRI technologies. The role demands a strategic thinker with a proven track record of managing development teams, collaborating with sales departments, and driving technological innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the software development department, overseeing all aspects of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) from conception to deployment.
  • Develop and implement software development strategies that align with the company's business goals and objectives.
  • Manage and mentor a team of software developers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

Strategic Planning

Software Development & Quality Assurance

  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of software solutions, ensuring they meet high standards of quality, performance, and security.

Innovation & Technology

  • Drive innovation within the team by staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies, particularly in GIS and ESRI platforms.
  • Ensure the scalability and sustainability of software solutions to support the company's growth and long-term success.

Collaboration, Quality & Sustainability

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, product management, and customer support, to ensure seamless integration of software solutions.

About You:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in software development, with a significant portion in the oil and gas industry.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of GIS data, ESRI platforms, and related technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing software development teams.
  • Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
  • Experience working closely with sales and marketing teams to align software products with market needs.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically and drive innovation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience with cloud-based solutions and services.
  • Knowledge of data analytics and machine learning applications in the oil and gas industry.
