Job Summary

The Preventionist - Seasonal will support managers and workers in the workplace in identifying, correcting, and controlling environmental risks. This role involves conducting audits, investigations, accident analyses, and risk assessments, and communicating the results to key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and participate in workplace inspections.
  • Conduct preventive inspections and evaluate risks present in the environment using a risk matrix.
  • Coach and support supervisors in incident/accident investigations and the implementation of corrective measures.
  • Verify compliance with OHS rules and procedures and communicate any deficiencies to key personnel.
  • Act as an awareness agent and intervene when needed.
  • Produce OHS statistical reports and analyze risks to recommend prevention programs.
  • Participate in health and safety committee meetings and contribute to the update/development of lockout programs, work at height, and confined space procedures.
  • Communicate information on work safety and accident prevention to employee groups.

Requirements

  • Occupational health and safety certificate or technique.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a similar position.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is essential.
  • Ability to work in a context of continuous improvement and change.
  • Ability to prioritize and communicate effectively.
  • Organizational skills, rigor, and autonomy.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.

Physical/Cognitive Requirements

The Preventionist - Seasonal must be able to follow policies and procedures, read, write, and interpret information, and use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel. They must also be able to sit, walk, or stand for up to 10 hours per day and intermittently crawl, squat, climb, twist, bend, stoop, push, or pull. Visual acuity, including close, distance, and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, is also required. The ability to lift/carry items less than 40 pounds is necessary.
