Editorial Specialist

As a skilled Editorial Specialist at Critical Mass, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of style and writing in our editorial and marketing communications materials. With a keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of U.S. English spelling, grammar, usage, style, and punctuation, you will be responsible for editing and proofreading copy to ensure clarity and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Edit and proofread editorial, marketing, and social media copy to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Review projects at various stages of the editorial and design process to ensure quality control.
  • Exercise quality control to ensure the highest standards of style and writing.
  • Work with key team members to develop and maintain editorial style guides.
  • Ensure client and creative feedback and other revisions have been applied correctly.
  • Be the gatekeeper for all brand content and ensure adherence to brand guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain consistency in copy usage and maintain standards as they evolve.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience editing and/or proofreading communications in a digital publication, advertising, or in-house creative environment.
  • A solid understanding and grounding in U.S. English spelling, grammar, usage, style, and punctuation.
  • Familiarity with standard style and usage guides, including the AP Stylebook and The Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Thorough familiarity with current online media formats, including social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, etc.
