Overview

Island Health is seeking a highly skilled Healthcare Professional to join our team as a Mental Health Consultation Nurse. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and healthcare teams to provide high-quality care and support.

Estimated Salary: $83,000 - $118,000 per year

This position requires a strong foundation in mental health nursing practice, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals with complex needs. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide mental health consultation services to patients, families, and healthcare teams
  • Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and services
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to prevent harm
  • Document patient information accurately and confidentially
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or a practicing RPN registrant
  • Graduation from a recognized nursing program, with Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) certification for specialty and/or service area as an asset
  • Minimum of three years of recent related experience in Mental Health & Addictions and a working knowledge of mental health and addiction outpatient/community services/programs or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Competencies as outlined in Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice (4th Edition)
