Salary
The estimated annual salary for this position is $48,665 based on a 35-hour workweek and $23.20 per hour rate for ECE License holders., Plus an additional $6 per hour for Licensed ECE's as per the Provincial Government's Wage Enhancement Initiative OR $21.61 for Early Childhood Educator Assistant License. This includes overtime pay according to the collective bargaining agreement between the union representing Y staff and YMCA management.

Job Description
We are seeking a caring and creative Early Childhood Educator to provide a safe and engaging experience for all children at the YMCA. As part of our team, you will be responsible for planning and leading activities based on the interests and developmental level of the children in our care. You will also build meaningful and positive relationships with children and families.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide quality care and creative programming to children
• Build meaningful and positive relationships with children and families
• Work with your team to create a supportive and safe environment for both staff and families
• Deliver high-quality and age-appropriate programs based on the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum
• Provide active supervision at all times and work as a team to support transitions between play areas
• Use parent communication apps to provide daily updates and communicate with parents
• Maintain a clean and safe environment – in all program areas and common spaces

Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should possess the following skills and qualifications:
• Basic ECE or ECEA certification from a program recognized in British Columbia
• Infant Toddler Educator (ITE) License is an asset
• Special Needs Educator (SNE) is an asset
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Any training related to child growth and development is an asset
• Emergency First Aid and CPR-C & AED certificate required within 30 days after start date
• 3 professional reference checks to be completed
• Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six months preceding your start date
