Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified and caring Early Childhood Educator to join our team at the Edgehill YMCA Child Care in Powell River. This is a permanent, full-time position with 35 hours/week.

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position ranges from $23.20 per hour for ECE License holders to $29.20 per hour for Licensed ECE's under the Provincial Government's Wage Enhancement Initiative. Early Childhood Educator Assistant License holders can expect a rate of $21.61 per hour.

Responsibilities and Duties

As an Early Childhood Educator, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing quality care and creative programming to children aged infant to preschool.
  • Building meaningful and positive relationships with children and their families.
  • Working collaboratively with your team to create a supportive and safe environment for both staff and families.
  • Delivering high-quality and age-appropriate programs based on the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum.

You will also be responsible for providing active supervision at all times, using parent communication apps to provide daily updates, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A basic ECE or ECEA certification from a recognized program in British Columbia.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Any training related to child growth and development is an asset.
  • An Emergency First Aid and CPR-C & AED certificate (obtainable within 30 days of starting).

A Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued within the last six months is also required.
