Social Work Lecturer

We are seeking a highly qualified Social Work Lecturer to join our faculty at Thompson Rivers University. The successful candidate will teach the course HUMS 2060: Introduction to Social Work Practice, which explores the profession of social work through an examination of its history, philosophical foundation, and contemporary theoretical perspectives.
The course covers topics such as social work theories, roles, and practice models, including the relevant Codes of Ethics and Practice Standards. Students will also examine the social structures that influence people's lives and lead to various sources and forms of oppression and marginalization in Canadian society.
The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Social Work and a minimum of five years of professional experience working in a social work capacity. They will also have experience integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods, as well as proven skills in building student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect.
