Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our financial operations team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to staff, overseeing accounts payable processes, and ensuring compliance with corporate controls and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Direction
    • Provide leadership and direction to staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.
    • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and controls to ensure efficient and effective accounts payable processes.
  • Accounts Payable Operations
    • Oversee and ensure that accounts payable processes, including invoice and payment processes and credit card programs, are processed efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner.
    • Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Compliance and Risk Management
    • Ensure compliance with corporate controls, including SOX requirements, and legislative requirements.
    • Identify and mitigate risks associated with accounts payable processes.
  • Process Improvement
    • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Degree in Business or Commerce with a minimum of four (4) years' related experience.
    • Prior experience managing accounts payable functions and a recognized professional accounting designation is preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Strong leadership and management skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to analyze and resolve complex financial issues.
    • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office.
