As a Principal Product Designer at Compass Digital, you will be working with a team of innovators who create remarkable customer experiences through technology products and services. Our team consists of user experience designers, developers, data scientists, project managers, business analysts, marketers, and technology implementation managers who share a human-centric perspective to rethink what's possible in technology innovation and consumer engagement within the foodservice and hospitality industries.

About the Job

This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 times a week in-office work. As a Principal Product Designer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and contributing to design systems, from building components to maintaining component libraries.
  • Strategic thinking to contribute to future experiences for all products.
  • Inspiring colleagues through coaching, mentoring, collaboration, and vision-setting.
  • Partnering in information architecture, working with product designers and technical architects on multiple products to create blueprints for design teams.
  • Collaborating in visual design, working with product designers to create, maintain, and articulate the visual language of our products in alignment with the Brand and Marketing teams.
  • Cross-functional expertise, working with different Compass Digital teams to implement efficient and harmonious experiences across all products.
  • Leading content efforts, developing and executing robust content strategy, terminology alignment, and UI taxonomy for all products.
  • Participating in accessibility initiatives and championing accessible design practices for our organization.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • 4+ years of experience with design systems or experience design standards across multiple products and technology stacks.
  • 10+ years of SaaS cloud-based platform design experience.
  • A proven track record of crafting, launching, and maintaining design standards and systems at scale in complex organizations.
  • Front-end foundational expertise – understanding of HTML, CSS, JS, and component frameworks.
  • Understanding of visual language and art direction.
  • Strong written, presentation, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex systems design into intuitive stories for various audiences.
  • A curious mindset, always seeking answers.
