We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Examiner to join our team at the Government of Alberta.
Job Summary:The Medical Examiner will be responsible for conducting autopsies and surgical specimen examinations, as well as removing organs and tissue specimens from bodies in the morgue under the supervision of a pathologist.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct autopsies and surgical specimen examinations under the supervision of a pathologist
- Remove organs and tissue specimens from bodies in the morgue as directed by the pathologist
- Assist with specialty residency training and certification examinations
- Develop and maintain expertise in pathology and medical specialization
- Participate in screening questions and assessments to determine candidate suitability
- 5 years or more of experience in a related field
- Specialty residency training in pathology
- Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification Examination
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
