Job Overview

Actalent is a prominent engineering design consulting firm specializing in industrial and commercial project development. We are currently engaged in a significant Agriculture processing plant initiative in British Columbia, overseeing the project from initial stages to construction.

We are seeking an experienced electrical engineer with a strong background in instrumentation engineering. The role involves facilitating the connection of power from a substation to the processing facility, as well as developing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), specifying instruments like transmitters and valves, and managing loop diagrams and control narratives. This position encompasses the installation of medium voltage cabling and the appropriate sizing of electrical equipment to ensure reliable power delivery.

The ideal candidate will possess a solid track record in designing and creating specifications for all necessary equipment and layouts, ensuring the effective energization of the facility.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design power distribution systems from substations to facilities
  2. Manage Motor Control Center (MCC) energization
  3. Create P&IDs
  4. Specify instruments including transmitters and valves
  5. Develop loop diagrams and control narratives
  6. Size electrical equipment appropriately

Position Type

This is a contract role with a duration of 18 months.

Work Arrangement

This position operates on a hybrid model, requiring a combination of on-site and remote work.

Work Environment

The role is based out of our office and involves regular interaction with the electrical engineering manager and the client. The employee will be part of a larger project team, primarily working in an office setting with some flexibility for remote work. The standard schedule is 8.5 hours per day, with one designated day off each month. Start times are adjustable within a specified range.
