Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team as an Ambulatory Care Specialist. In this role, you will provide holistic nursing care to oncology patients, utilizing evidence-based practice to assess, intervene, and manage symptoms, treatments, and patient education.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assessment, treatment planning, and implementation, as well as patient and family education.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and modify treatment plans as needed.
- Administer medications, injections, and IV fluids, and monitor patient reactions and changes in physical or mental status.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including health history, nursing assessments, and care evaluations.
- Admit, transfer, or discharge patients according to BC Cancer policies and Centre directives.
Requirements
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
- One (1) year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Demonstrated clinical knowledge, ability to apply clinical knowledge in practice, and ability to utilize clinical and information technology to enhance patient care.
- Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action, In Plain Sight Report, and other related reports.
