Electrical Design Lead

At Modern Niagara, we are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Lead to join our team in Hamilton. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing electrical design solutions for our projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement electrical design solutions for projects
- Collaborate with construction teams to ensure design and development of electrical systems
- Prepare construction coordination, interference plans, and develop Engineering Consultant designs into fabricable/installable/coordinated virtual models
- Support the design and modeling of various projects, including fire alarm, lighting, security, power distribution systems, ICAT, communication systems, conduits, cable tray, hanger systems, electrical families creation support, sleeving/embeds/inserts/total station, conduit runs, panel and feeder schedules, electrical room/distribution systems
- Ensure all work is vetted, optimized to save money, ease installation, follow relevant codes, correct consultant mistakes, and agrees with project strategies
- Post-Secondary degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Drafting or relevant technical diploma, journeyman status, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 5 years of extensive, practical, and successful experience in the Electrical trades and construction industries
- Proficient in Navisworks, Revit with Fabrication Parts, and AutoCAD
- Consideration given for other BIM/3D programs
- Able to prove ability in resolving/managing multidiscipline coordination
- Experience in field installation/trade/code adherence will be highly valued
- Experience in reading and interpreting construction drawings and documents
- Strong computer skills with hands-on working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and digital scheduling software
- Knowledge of construction costs/budgets/schedule and construction process
- Applies advanced technical experience/knowledge to interpret documentation, specifications, and design drawings
- Strong understanding of submittal process, RFI writing, and tactics focused on implementing design changes
- Strong written & communication skills
- Excellent leadership skills and ability to effectively work with a team
- Willingness to commit to continuous learning
- Detail oriented and ability to work within tight timelines, and ensure team stays ahead of critical path with excellent time and project management skills
- Resourceful, well organized, and energetic with an ability to effectively set and manage competing priorities
- Sense of urgency and drive to succeed, must be comfortable working within a deadline driven, fast paced environment
