Job Summary

Nutrition International is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Advisor to join the IGNIT3 Project team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the implementation of the Increasing Gains in Nutrition through Integration, Education, Evaluation, and Empowerment (IGNIT3) Project in collaboration with SickKids Centre for Global Child Health and WaterAid Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and coordination for the IGNIT3 Project, ensuring seamless implementation and delivery of project objectives.
  • Analyze and interpret findings from routine monitoring and research, identifying areas for improvement and recommending evidence-based solutions.
  • Coordinate technical advice provision by Global Technical Services (GTS) or external experts, ensuring timely and effective support to project teams.
  • Assess and monitor the project team's technical capacity and resource needs, providing recommendations for capacity building and resource allocation.
  • Quality assure project management activities, including consultant selection and scope of work, to ensure alignment with project objectives and Nutrition International's standards.
  • Support design, implementation, and knowledge exchange of research studies, ensuring the integration of best practices and evidence-based approaches.
  • Troubleshoot and recommend corrective actions, leveraging internal Nutrition International expertise and resources.
  • Contribute to knowledge translation documents and peer-reviewed publications, showcasing the impact and effectiveness of the IGNIT3 Project.
  • Coordinate quality assurance/technical review of knowledge products, ensuring the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Disseminate Nutrition International's work through representation, publications, and policy advocacy, promoting the organization's mission and values.

Requirements

  • Postgraduate level degree in nutrition or public health, or relevant discipline with significant experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in nutrition, public health, or related field, with a strong track record of delivering results and achieving project objectives.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in programs related to child survival, health and nutrition, maternal health and nutrition, and/or adolescent health and nutrition, with a focus on international development and global health.
  • Proven experience in quantitative and qualitative research, with a strong understanding of research methodologies and data analysis.
  • Understanding of health systems and girls' and women's health and equity issues, with a commitment to promoting gender equality and social justice.
  • International development experience, preferably in low- and middle-income countries, with a strong understanding of the complexities and challenges of global health and nutrition.
  • Experience with gender-responsive program design and implementation is an asset, as is fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate complex ideas and concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel internationally for up to 40 days per year, with a willingness to relocate to Ottawa, Canada, or work remotely.
