Key Responsibilities

The Procurement Lead - In-Product Software is responsible for managing the procurement process for embedded software in Ciena's products and solutions, ensuring compliance with business, technical, and legal requirements. This includes collaborating with product teams, legal experts, suppliers, and subject matter specialists to structure agreements that meet the company's objectives.

Main Responsibilities Include:

  • Receiving requests for new or amended software agreements from product teams and ensuring they are entered into the supplier onboarding and contracts management systems.
  • Engaging with product teams to understand the scope and specifications of embedded software products and services, providing guidance on how to structure agreements.
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts to ensure software agreements comply with Ciena's policies, protect the company from unacceptable risk, and meet business objectives.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, contract management, or software licensing. Strong knowledge of software licensing models, terms, and conditions is essential, as well as good understanding of issues and risks associated with embedded third-party software in commercial products.

Additional Requirements

The Procurement Lead - In-Product Software must have excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive, the ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring Ciena's compliance with contractual obligations, managing relationships with software suppliers, and overseeing contract renewals, expirations, and terminations.
