Halton Healthcare is seeking a skilled Mental Health Registered Practical Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our psychiatric nursing team, you will provide high-quality patient care to adult inpatients in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Administer medications and provide patient care to individuals with complex mental health needs, including those who are depressed, suicidal, psychotic, and/or have severe personality and behavioral disorders.
- Conduct behavioral observations, mental status, and physical assessments to inform patient care decisions.
- Monitor patient responses to pharmaceutical care interventions and document patient progress.
- Communicate effectively with other team members and charge nurses to ensure seamless patient care.
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- CPI certification.
- Psychiatric nursing certification in progress.
- Minimum 1 year of acute adult mental health experience.
- Strong understanding of psychopharmacology.
- Strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing, addiction issues, and risk assessments.
- Excellent assessment and crisis intervention, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform well in stressful situations and problem-solve.
- Good team player.
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record.
- Physical ability to perform the demands of the job, including heavy lifting and intensive physical effort.
- Experience working in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.
- Strong patient-centered care skills.
- Ability to drive change and innovation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Various rotating 12-hour shifts, including days and nights. Hours are subject to change based on operational requirements.
Compensation$ to $ per hour.
