About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Admissions Specialist to join our team at the University of Ottawa.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine candidates' eligibility by applying admission requirements and policies in accordance with Senate and Faculty policies.
  • Interview potential students and assess their academic merit and potential for success.
  • Award and revise admission scholarships, differential tuition fee exemptions, and transfer credits as needed.
  • Adjudicate the admissibility of all types of applicants from national and international educational systems.
  • Mentor colleagues on international policies, immigration regulations, and document validation.
  • Counsel students and their parents on admission requirements, prerequisites, and scholarship opportunities.
  • Presents special cases to the Faculty Admissions Committee for review.
  • Develop and recommend strategies to meet the University's enrollment objectives.
  • Represent the admissions office at recruitment activities and events.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of an undergraduate degree.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in a university admissions office.
  • Excellent judgment, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of national and international education systems.
  • Broad knowledge of university academic programs, structure, and admissions.
