Job Summary

Bruce Power is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Services Maintainer to join our team. As an Emergency Services Maintainer, you will be responsible for performing fire protection duties, responding to site incidents, and interacting with other agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform fire protection duties, including combustible fire zone walkdowns, hot work inspections, and fire impairments.
  • Respond to site incidents within prescribed time limits, including fire emergencies, medical situations, and rescue operations.
  • Interact with external agencies, including fire departments, ambulance services, and HAZMAT agencies.
  • Acquire and maintain licenses for driving and operating motorized equipment.
  • Train and mentor ERT trainees, including theoretical and practical training.
  • Perform inspections, testing, and minor maintenance of Emergency Response Services equipment.
  • Conduct safety-related inspections and interact with other workgroups.
  • Provide input and interact with other workgroups regarding control of ignition sources.
  • Review and ensure understanding of activated rescue plans.
  • Perform visual inspections and minor maintenance of station fire exit doors and safety-related signage.
  • Record and sign off on appropriate record forms and digital processes.
  • Conduct emergency exercises, drills, and shift practices.
  • Perform inspections, testing, and minor maintenance on emergency and hazardous response equipment.
  • Act as a technical resource for site staff in emergency services response matters.
  • Provide training and information on emergency services response areas.
  • Attend and participate in required training, including ERT and ERO.
  • Use computer skills to input required reports and information.
  • Clean and decontaminate Emergency Services equipment.
  • Perform minor painting on Emergency Services equipment.
  • Perform Emergency Response Organization duties in a radiation emergency or drill event.
  • Perform hazard assessments, including HAZMAT, gas testing, and radiation surveys.
  • May be required to work in a supervisory capacity as an Incident Commander.
  • Maintain a physical fitness level commensurate with the requirements of the ESM job document and qualifications.
  • Carry out good housekeeping and fire and accident prevention practices.
  • Provide support to the Dosimetry department for Thermoluminescent Dosimetry badges.
  • Provide support to Bruce A and Bruce B for relocating and filling in-service cylinders.
Requirements
  • Grade XII and post-secondary certificate in fire-related studies and NFPA 1001 (Firefighter Level I and II).
  • OR Grade XII and 3 years of municipal volunteer fire department experience and NFPA 1001 (Firefighter Level I and II).
  • Successful applicant(s) MUST provide copies of the following at the time of their online application: NFPA 1001 Certificate, Standard First Aid Certificate, and Valid "D" License with a "Z" License endorsement.
