Outreach Education Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our Education team as an Outreach Education Instructor. This is a full-time temporary position that requires a passion for delivering exceptional educational services to students in a remote community.
Key Responsibilities- Lead instruction and provide quality teaching, ongoing analysis, and pedagogical knowledge to support optimum learning for all students at an outreach high school.
- Teach a range of subjects, including Mathematics, Science, English Language Arts, Social Studies, Physical Education, and Career and Technology Studies.
- Work with individual students or groups of students in the classroom and other settings to support their learning needs.
- Collect and prepare learning materials and use technology to support student learning.
- Responsible for scheduling appointments for students with exceptionalities who require one-to-one support.
- Use effective instructional strategies to help students with lessons and assignments.
- Develop and implement Physical Education programming that allows students to earn credits towards their graduation requirement.
- Plan field trips and activities that promote student engagement and learning.
- Create a classroom environment that is inclusive, equitable, and differentiated to meet the needs of all students.
- Participate in the school community beyond the classroom to support student learning and well-being.
- Build positive and productive relationships with students, parents/guardians, peers, and other stakeholders to support student success.
- Establish and promote inclusive learning environments that value diversity and promote student well-being.
- Develop and apply knowledge about First Nations, Métis, and Inuit cultures to support student learning.
- Provide tutoring and homework help to junior and senior high school students in the evenings.
- Communicate with Indigenous Liaison and Fort McMurray High School Principals to determine student needs and support.
- Prepare materials and complete clerical tasks as required.
- Support students with meeting application deadlines for post-secondary education and other opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with external organizations to support student learning and well-being.
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Knowledge of teaching Math, Science, English Language Arts, Social Studies, CTF, and CTS courses, as well as Physical Education and junior high school options.
- Experience working in a First Nations community, including knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions, and values.
- Clean Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector required.
- Valid class 5 Driver's License and Clean Driver's Abstract required.
- Successful candidate will be required to live in or relocate to Fort McMurray, Alberta.
