Position OverviewWe are seeking a talented individual to join our team in the Ottawa office as an Associate Investment Advisor. This role will contribute to growing the business by working closely with the Investment Advisor and team to manage client relationships, develop new business, and provide exceptional client service.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesInvestment Advisor Support- Prepare client commentaries, review packages, and investment proposals, as well as retirement projections and financial plans.
- Assist in research, analysis, asset mix decisions, and investment product selection with a forward-thinking approach.
- Contribute to writing quarterly market commentaries for clients and prospects.
- Identify new business opportunities to acquire additional assets and increase revenue through client prospecting, acquisition, and networking.
- Discover opportunities to gather additional assets and increase revenue within the existing client base, such as referrals, consolidation of assets, and insurance.
- Assist with regular client communication, including website updates and client gifting, events, and seminars.
- Adhere to all firm and regulatory policies by staying up-to-date with regulatory rules and trading activities, and ensuring accurate documentation of client interactions.
- At least 5 years of experience in the financial services industry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to take initiative, work independently, and learn new content with a positive attitude.
- Understanding of industry and firm compliance regulations, as well as back office procedures.
- A strong understanding of accounting and financial analysis principles, as well as modeling skills.
- An undergraduate and/or postgraduate degree in Business, Economics, or a related field.
- Licensed with the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) as a Registered Representative is an asset.
