The City of Welland is seeking a highly skilled Landscape Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Parks and Forestry department, you will be responsible for designing and implementing horticulture displays, coordinating seasonal plantings, and providing operational support for our municipal cemeteries.

About the Position

The successful candidate will have a degree or diploma in Horticulture, Landscape Design, or Landscape Technology, and a minimum of three years' experience in landscape design. You will be responsible for:

  • Designing and implementing horticulture displays for city parks, cemeteries, and open spaces
  • Coordinating seasonal plantings and ensuring timely completion of projects
  • Providing operational support for municipal cemeteries, including burial layout and marker installations
  • Representing the Parks Division and working with community groups to select design components for floral display beds
  • Assisting with presentations to garden clubs, schools, and special ceremonies

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree or diploma in Horticulture, Landscape Design, or Landscape Technology
  • Three years' experience in landscape design
  • A valid Class "D" Ontario Driver's License with "Z" endorsement
  • Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Accreditation and working knowledge of IPM
  • Book 7 Traffic Control Certification
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Dynascape Landscape software
