Job Title: DevOps Engineer - FullTime

At Glencore, we are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer to join our Global IT Department in Toronto, Canada.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting internal business users, troubleshooting reported problems, and working with internal IT teams to provide a resolution in an efficient and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support business users in the Americas and globally for our main trading and industrial information systems
  • Collaborate with a global DevOps team distributed across Switzerland, Canada, and Australia
  • Design and maintain our strategic on-premise cloud application environment
  • Build, configure, and manage critical Kafka infrastructure
  • Implement and manage monitoring and logging solutions based on Enterprise Elasticsearch
  • Drive infrastructure changes to promote stability, security, performance, and modularity
  • Automate complex and repetitive business and technical processes
  • Promote adoption of new technologies and standards
Requirements:
  • Core technical expertise in managing Kafka and/or Kubernetes
  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Broad experience in operating systems – Windows and Linux (system performance analysis, optimization, and monitoring)
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g. Bash, Python, PowerShell)
  • Good knowledge of relational databases and SQL
  • Experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management tools (Ansible, Terraform)
  • Experience using an enterprise automation platform (e.g. Automic, Control-M)
  • Working knowledge of tools like GitLab, ArgoCD, SonarQube, and Artifactory

  • Education on degree level (or equivalent) with at least 4 years of working experience in a DevOps role
  • A strong team player, willing to share know-how; enjoys being a problem solver
  • Flexible and able to work under pressure; brings new ideas to solve our problems
  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken)
