Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Wellness Coordinator to join our team at Douglas College. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive campus health promotion/wellness program that fosters a positive and inclusive culture and enhances the overall wellness of the diverse student population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a campus wellness strategy that aligns with the College's strategic plans and policies.
  • Collaborate with key campus partners to educate students and the College community on the link between wellness and learning and student success.
  • Conduct campus needs assessments to inform wellness programming and develop health promotion materials.
  • Plan and implement health promotion programming for all students and employees, including wellness events, active bystander training, consent/sexual violence awareness initiatives, and online educational materials.
  • Provide guidance and support to the wellness peer leadership program (Student Wellness Awareness Team) including recruitment, training, and supervision.
  • Develop and administer operating budgets for all wellness activities, programs, and special events.
  • Supervise student assistants and volunteers, and ensure all program and College procedures are followed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Promotion, Health Education, Public Health, or a related field, together with a minimum of two years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing student-focused, holistic health promotion/wellness programming that supports student success based on best-practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including a good working knowledge of the English language (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently with a minimum of supervision, and establish priorities and achieve deadlines.
  • Valid B.C. Drivers' license or access to a reliable transportation to accommodate activities at all campuses.
