Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical and CNC Engineer to join our team at Thales Group in Ottawa, Canada. This is a hybrid position that requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to design and develop mechanical systems for various projects.

About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity with an estimated salary of $95,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on experience. As a Mechanical and CNC Engineer, you will be responsible for creating project mechanical design CAD models, providing interface control between modules, subsystems, and components, and performing compatibility and verification analyses.

You will work under the supervision of senior P.Eng. to perform mechanical compatibility analysis and interface to external support for stress, dynamics, thermal, and other special engineering disciplines. Your tasks will include creating or contributing to ECRs, design reports, installation packages, and other design artifacts for all program stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create project mechanical design CAD models and provide interface control between modules, subsystems, and components
  • Perform mechanical compatibility analysis and interface to external support for stress, dynamics, thermal, and other special engineering disciplines
  • Work with other engineers to provide BOM updates, create or contribute to ECRs, design reports, installation packages, and other design artifacts
  • Ensure that mechanical designs are practical, producible, and efficient, and that human interface requirements are met where required
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have a Bachelor's degree in mechanical or systems engineering disciplines or equivalent education with relevant experience. A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in a mechanical, systems, etc. discipline, ideally in the defence industry, is also required.

P.Eng. or Eligible to obtain P.Eng license is necessary. You should have experience in the Systems Engineering life cycle, including typical modeling tools for design such as Solidworks Mechanical or AutoCAD. Comprehensive understanding of naval systems and design standards for commercial and naval platforms following IMO and Class requirements, Lloyds Register Rules & Regulations, IEC standards, IMO Regulations, SOLAS regulations, Transport Canada marine Acts and Regulations, is also preferred.
