Runnymede Healthcare Centre is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy Clinical Extern to join our team. As a Clinical Extern, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a clinical setting, working alongside a team of professionals who are committed to enriching the lives of patients.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the team with basic clinical tasks, such as equipment setup, patient transfers, and portering, under the direct or indirect supervision of a regulated healthcare professional.
- Assist patients with activities recommended by the healthcare team to maintain functional independence, such as ADLs, transfers, and ambulation.
- Answer call bells, address patient concerns, and advise registered health professionals when assistance is required.
- Engage and encourage patients to participate in therapy and promote a friendly environment.
- Document care provided, under the supervision of a regulated healthcare professional.
- Support group exercise programs run by Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, or Rehab Assistants.
- Wipe down surfaces or therapeutic materials.
- Assist with OT/PT/RA with lean projects on all floors.
- Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy students in any year of study of a training program accredited by the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) or accredited by Physiotherapy Education Accreditation Canada (PEAC) respectively.
- Demonstrate ability to complete patient care tasks as directed.
- Demonstrate ability to multi-task with proven organizational skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate confidence in knowledge, skills, judgment, and ability to function in the team-based model of care.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent work performance and attendance record.
