Labourer I

Job Summary

The City of White Rock is seeking a skilled Labourer I to join our Public Works team. As a Labourer I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of labour tasks involving considerable physical effort, including construction and maintenance of roads, pavement, and asphalt installation.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform construction and maintenance tasks, including road construction, pavement repair, and asphalt installation
• Operate a variety of small equipment, hand tools, and perform routine equipment maintenance
• Perform maintenance inspections and troubleshoot issues
• Assist with water, sanitary, and storm sewer maintenance, pipe installation, and repair
• Install signs and perform cement work and concrete installation, including brick paver installation
• Drive a truck and assist with garbage, green waste, and recycling collection

Requirements

• Completion of Grade 12 supplemented with job-related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience
• Considerable experience or training and knowledge of the hazards and proper safety precautions applicable to the work
• Class 5 Driver's license with Air Endorsement and proof of a safe and responsible driving record
• Class 3 Driver's License or higher with Air Endorsement is an asset
• Any additional Public Works related training, including Water Distribution Level I or Wastewater Collection Level I is considered an asset
• Any level of Occupational First Aid (OFA) training is considered an asset

Working Conditions

The Labourer I will work in all types of weather conditions and will be required to perform physical labour tasks. The successful candidate will be required to obtain a minimum OFA Level 1 certification.
