Overview of the Role

We are seeking a qualified Clinical Professional to join our team at Island Health. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate individual to make a difference in the lives of our patients.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in nursing and be able to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

About the Job

This role is responsible for providing direct patient care, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for patients with various health conditions.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work effectively with a variety of healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to meet their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
  • To communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless coordination of care.
  • To participate in education and training programs to stay up-to-date on the latest clinical practices and technologies.
Requirements

The following qualifications are required:

  • Degree or diploma in nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Current registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Up to two years of recent experience in a clinical setting, depending on the specific position.
Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Specialty unit nurse positions require area-specific specialty certification for the unit.
  • Heart Health nurse positions require demonstrated ability in arrhythmia interpretation, as evidenced by a mark of 75% on the VIHA ECG Challenge exam.
Skills and Abilities
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize assigned workload and set priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts, including co-workers, physicians, community agency representatives, patients, residents, and families.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
