Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Aquatic Program Supervisor to join our team at the City of Kingston. As a key member of our aquatic team, you will be responsible for supervising and instructing aquatics program participants, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and instruct aquatics program participants, providing a fun and safe aquatic environment
  • Prepare lesson plans for all levels and make plans available during lesson times
  • Ensure participants meet the minimum requirements of the Aquatic Admission Standards during all lessons and swims
  • Work as a team member and actively participate in facility programming
  • Record and submit all forms and documentation, including incident and accident reports
  • Follow maintenance checklists and record accomplished tasks
  • Attend all training sessions and address disciplinary, safety issues and complaints
  • Be knowledgeable and enforce all City of Kingston policies and other relevant legislations

Qualifications and Competencies

Must be currently enrolled in full-time secondary or post-secondary studies. National Lifeguard – Pool certification is required, and Lifesaving Society Water Safety Instructor certification must be obtained within six months of starting in the role. High Five (PHCD) – Principals of Healthy Child Development certification is preferred. Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C/AED certification is also required.

Skills and Abilities

Proven customer service skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Must obtain and maintain a satisfactory CPIC (Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check). Hours of operation vary, including day, weekends, evenings, and some statutory holidays. Work locations include Artillery Park Aquatic Centre and Boys and Girls Club.
