Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Accountant to join our team at the County of Grande Prairie No. 1. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned accounting professional to contribute their expertise in financial reporting, analysis, and compliance.

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, as well as reviewing and reconciling specified balance sheet accounts. You will also assist in preparing annual financial statements and financial information returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards such as IFRS, GAAP, and PSAB.

The ideal candidate will have a Business or Accounting degree along with a Chartered Professional Accountant designation and a minimum of five years' experience in accounting and finance functions. Experience in a municipal or public sector accounting environment would be an asset.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for presentation.
  • Assist in preparing annual financial statements and financial information returns.
  • Review and reconcile specified balance sheet accounts.
  • Analyze financial data to ensure consistency, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Support year-end audits by preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor queries.
  • Provide support to report writers to ensure data is presented in the most user-friendly format.
