Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Bookstore Support Specialist to join our team at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. As a key member of our bookstore team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a high level of product knowledge, and ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Fulfill customer orders, manage inventory, and maintain accurate records of sales and inventory levels.
  2. Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, program staff, and regional community colleges.
  3. Provide excellent customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  4. Process cash and credit transactions, balance tills, and maintain a high level of accuracy in financial transactions.
  5. Prepare and maintain the bookstore area, including stocking shelves, cleaning, and maintaining a safe and organized workspace.
  6. Receive and inspect deliveries, verify inventory levels, and process returns and exchanges.
  7. Prepare and process credit memos for regional college returns.
  8. Perform regular stock checks and update information in the computerized point of sale system.

Requirements

  1. Certificate in marketing, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  2. One year of recent and relevant experience in a retail environment, including basic knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures and operations.
  3. Working knowledge of general accounting and financial management practices.
  4. Intermediate level computer knowledge with some spreadsheet applications.
  5. Good organizational and time management skills.
  6. Good interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  7. Ability to perform multiple tasks with numerous interruptions while ensuring accuracy.
  8. Ability to lift and handle heavy boxes on a regular basis.
  9. Demonstrates valuing diversity.
