Job Title: Education Assistant II

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Education Assistant II to join our team at Parkland School Division. As an Education Assistant II, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs, providing literacy intervention, and assisting teachers with instructional and non-instructional tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide literacy intervention supports to K-9 students
  • Assist teachers with instructional and non-instructional tasks in the classroom and with other school activities
  • Work as a member of the school and as a member of a student support team
  • Support classrooms and provide supervision under the guidance of the Principal and literacy lead teacher
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma
  • Teacher Assistant Certificate/Educational Assistant Certificate is an asset
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and First Aid Certificate would be an asset
  • Courses related to working with students with special needs OR that are specifically related to the above-mentioned duties
  • 1 to 3 years of related experience
Working Conditions:
  • Work indoors except when supervising children outdoors or going on field trips
  • May have the same holiday schedule as teachers, including a long summer break as well as winter and spring breaks
  • Work on a ten-month contract basis and therefore are not paid during the summer months
