Your Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Unit Clerk in the Brain Injury Rehabilitation program at Alberta Health Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating communication between nursing and other health disciplines, departments, patients, and families. As a Unit Clerk, you will be instrumental in maintaining patient records, charts, processing physician orders, and scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities such as recording and transcribing meeting minutes, and requisitioning of office and patient care supplies.

Description:

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients, and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients, and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience with Connect Care and NetCare. Timekeeping experience with ESP training. Skilled with computer software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook). Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus is required. Accuracy and attention to detail and ability to work with the team and manage multiple priorities. Ability to interact effectively with diverse group of clients. Current BCLS-HCP card required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous Unit Clerk experience in a hospital setting preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
