About the Opportunity

The Nutrition and Food Services Utility Worker (Transport Driver) plays a vital role in the patient food services and retail food setting. This position involves traveling between Dartmouth General Hospital, Nova Scotia Hospital, Victoria General Hospital, and the Veteran's Memorial Building during each shift, and other sites as needed. The primary responsibility is to drive a 5-ton truck, transporting food and goods between hospital sites with accuracy and efficiency.

The position also involves preparing, serving, and distributing meals and supplies to patients, staff, families, and customers. Additionally, they are responsible for taking meal orders using computer software, cleaning equipment, dishes, and utensils, and ensuring overall cleanliness of their work area. The Utility Worker (Transport) supports safe food handling procedures and overall service excellence, providing safe, prompt, efficient transport, and storage of NFS supplies, equipment, etc., between sites of the Nova Scotia Health, Central Zone.

About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual with the following qualifications:

  • Grade 12/GED or demonstrated skills and/or relevant work experience, with equivalency clearly stated in the cover letter and resume
  • Class 5 license required
  • Ability to work as part of a team to provide services and achieve departmental and/or organizational goals
  • Ability to perform duties within expected timeframes and standards of accuracy
  • Ability to communicate effectively while demonstrating civility and respect
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
  • Experience driving a large vehicle preferred

Hours
  • Permanent, Full-Time; 75 Hours Biweekly
  • Hours will include weekends, weekdays, and holidays
Compensation and Benefits

$20.13 - $21.69 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
