Human Resources Director Opportunity

The City of Kelowna is seeking an experienced and dynamic HR Director to join our Senior Leadership Team. As the Director of Human Resources, you will oversee the planning, organization, direction, and evaluation of the human resources and safety functions for the City of Kelowna.

You will provide strategic leadership and advice to the Senior Leadership Team on all human resources and safety matters, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Leadership and Strategic Planning: Provide strategic leadership and direction to the human resources and safety functions, ensuring alignment with the City's goals and objectives.
  2. Human Resources Management: Oversee the planning, organization, direction, and evaluation of human resources functions, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits, and compensation.
  3. Safety and Risk Management: Develop and implement safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  4. Policy Development and Implementation: Develop and implement human resources policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  5. Employee Relations and Communications: Foster positive employee relations and communications, ensuring a positive and inclusive work environment.

Requirements

  1. Education and Experience: Post-secondary degree in a related discipline and CPHR or SHRM designation is an asset. 7 years of progressively responsible HR management experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior managerial capacity.
  2. Leadership and Management Experience: Demonstrated experience providing leadership at a senior management level.
  3. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of labour, employment, and human rights legislation and all areas of HR practices.
