Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Management Specialist to join our Eastern Ecology team in Mississauga, Ontario. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting environmental inspections, supporting field-based project tasks, and contributing to proposal development and project scoping.

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct environmental inspections on construction projects, including assessing erosion sediment control across Ontario (focusing on the Greater Toronto Area).
  2. Support field-based project tasks, such as deploying air quality monitors, performing soil sampling, swim pond cleanouts, and other tasks to ensure environmental compliance.
  3. Contribute to proposal development and project scoping, collaborating with clients, approval agencies, sub-consultants, and subcontractors.
  4. Manage and provide leadership on environmental assessment, planning, design, and construction projects, engaging with stakeholders and coordinating with internal project teams.
  5. Prepare technical reports, proposals, and cost estimates for multi-disciplinary projects.
Requirements
  • 5-7 years of experience in environmental management or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in environmental science, geography, urban planning, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, such as the Municipal Class EA process and the Canadian Impact Assessment Act.
  • Ability to work on various projects in different sectors, including urban, transportation, infrastructure, oil and gas, wind, and hydropower.
  • Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, organizational skills, staff supervision, and team communication.
  • Experience researching, conceptualizing, planning, and writing reports related to planning, design, and permitting.
  • Valid G-class driver's license required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Planning experience with environmental management on large infrastructure projects within Ontario.
  • Experience working with Metrolinx or MTO projects.
  • Technical abilities in ecological study design and coordination of large field programs.
