Job Summary:

FYidoctors is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Optometrist to join our team of healthcare professionals. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive eye care services to our patients, including diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Eye Examinations: Conduct thorough eye exams to assess ocular health and visual function, utilizing diagnostic tools such as visual acuity tests, tonometry, retinoscopy, and imaging techniques.
  • Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnose ocular diseases, visual conditions, and abnormalities, and prescribe medications, vision therapies, corrective lenses, or refer patients to specialists when necessary.
  • Vision Correction: Prescribe and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses, providing advice on visual aids that best suit the patient's lifestyle and visual needs.
  • Disease Management: Monitor and manage ongoing conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and cataracts, and provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries.
  • Emergency Care: Provide immediate care for acute vision problems and ocular emergencies, including removing foreign objects, treating infections, and managing ocular injuries.
  • Preventive Health Services: Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and early detection strategies to prevent vision loss, and conduct screenings for vision-related health issues.
  • Professional Development: Stay informed on the latest research, technology, and practices in optometry and eye care, and participate in continuing education and professional association activities to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Clinical Administration: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations, and collaborate with administrative staff to ensure a seamless patient experience.

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from a School of Optometry recognized by the College of Optometrists of British Columbia.
  • Valid license to practice optometry in Canada, or be eligible to obtain a valid license to practice optometry in Canada within a reasonably agreed-upon delay.

Working Conditions:

This is a permanent, full-time position, working between 35 and 40 hours per week, with a compensation package that corresponds to 21% of the gross revenue generated by the candidate at each work location (clinic). The anticipated yearly wages are between $120,000 and $150,000.
