Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Government Relations Manager to join our team at Ducks Unlimited Canada. This is a full-time, permanent position based out of Ottawa or Southern Ontario.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage relationships with municipal, regional, and provincial governments to influence policies and regulations in support of DUC's mission and habitat goals.
  • Represent DUC Ontario at meetings with key policy staff, including departmental and ministerial levels, as well as with Members of Provincial Parliaments of all parties.
  • Secure renewed provincial investment in wetland conservation through lobbying efforts.
  • Maintain and build new relationships with stakeholders interested in establishing wetland protection policy.
  • Develop a provincial IGR strategy in alignment with the National IGR strategy to advance wetland conservation as a priority with the provincial government.
  • Create a multi-party policy engagement strategy, including environmental recommendations for all parties to engage with DUC Ontario.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience working for a provincially elected official, in the Civil Service, or in a professional government relations and public policy capacity.
  • Bachelor's degree in political science, public affairs, or policy management.
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in budget planning, reporting, and project management.
