Associate Dean of Research Job Description

The University of Fredericton is seeking a highly qualified Associate Dean of Research to play a crucial role in fostering a vibrant research culture. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting high-quality research that culminates in publications in peer-reviewed journals and significant books, as well as transfer publications and engagement with industry partners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Foster research across the University, supporting faculty and encouraging a research culture.
  • Mentor faculty and students in their research endeavors and professional development.
  • Collaborate with Deans and other university leaders to integrate research initiatives with the overall strategic plan.
  • Encourage an environment that promotes both high-quality research and transfer to industry stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • PhD or other terminal degree.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in an administrative leadership position/role in a higher education setting.
  • A distinguished record of scholarly research and peer-reviewed publication.
  • Experience in collaboratively leading and supporting faculty.
  • Familiarity with the latest trends and developments in research and higher education.
  • Strong understanding of research compliance, policies, and ethical standards.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with a wide range of people.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in interdisciplinary research and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proven track record of mentoring and developing faculty and student researchers.
